What is "Royalty Free" and why do I need a license?
[TOP]
When an artist writes a piece of music, they own the copyright to that music. Because of this, it is illegal for you to create a recording that uses their music, or to play their music publically, without first obtaining a license to do so. In some cases, the artist will allow you to use their music, but demand "royalties" - ongoing commission payments for the use of their music.

The best alternative to this arrangement is royalty free music. In a nutshell, "Royalty Free" means that you only pay a one-time fee for the music you purchase. You can use that music for commercial purposes without having to pay any royalties/commissions to the artist ever again. Royalty free music licenses do vary from one organization to the next, so you should always read the license terms carefully to make sure that you will not breach any copyright laws.

When you purchase music from RoyaltyFreeMeditationMusic.com, you are automatically granted a full commercial license. Your initial payment is all you will ever have to pay.

Can I play your royalty free music to a live audience, such as a yoga class or to a private client?
[TOP]
Yes you can, and you will never have to pay any additional performance royalties.

I want to create one CD’s with two tracks on it. Do I have to pay for the royalty free music twice?[TOP]
No. If you are creating a single CD or MP3 album, you can use the music you have purchased to create as many tracks as you like.

I want to create two separate CD’s with the same backing track. Do I have to pay for the royalty free music twice?[TOP]
Not at all. When you purchase royalty free music, your license permits you to create and distribute as many CD's/MP3's/DVD's as you like. Just keep in mind that as the purchaser of the license, only YOU have the right to create products with our music in the background. You cannot pass the music onto others to use in their projects, or resell the music in its original form.

I have used your music in the background of my guided meditation CD. Can I now sell it on iTunes?
Yes indeed. Once you have created your own audio production you can sell as many CD's or MP3's as you like. Sell them on iTunes, on Amazon, on your own website, through a retail outlet...wherever you like! Your audio production belongs to you, so there are no restrictions on where you sell it or how many copies you sell.

Is there anything that I cannot use your music for?[TOP]
Unless you purchase a Distributor's License, you cannot resell our music in its original form. For example:
You cannot download our music and sell it on your website.
You cannot create a CD with our music (without a voiceover) and sell it.

You cannot sub-license our background music in any way - meaning that you cannot sell our music to other people to use in their projects, nor can you take our music and turn it into your own music library to distribute to others.

You cannot post the music on your website for download. While you can use our music on your website, you cannot give your visitors links to download the music.

Can I mix your music into my music?[TOP]
No. You cannot buy our music, then add your own music to it, and then treat that as your own music. This is known as "creating derived works" and it is not permitted without prior authorization.

Please note that you cannot add elements such as binaural beats, monaural beats or isochronic tones to the music either. These sounds are musical in nature (they have both pitch, volume and tempo) and they can disrupt the intended feel and energy of our music if applied without the utmost care.

You are allowed to edit and alter the music you purchase from us by adding elements such as fade ins & fade outs, by looping the music or cutting it or by adding a vocal performance or nature sounds.

Can I mix your nature sounds into your music?[TOP]
Absolutely. This is exactly what our nature sounds were designed for. However, you cannot mix our music with nature sounds and then sell that recording without a voiceover. Remember - all our music and nature sounds are to be used as background music only - you cannot resell our audio productions in their original form and you cannot use them to create derived works.

Can I mix your nature sounds with royalty free music that I bought somewhere else?[TOP]
Yes indeed - provided that the organization from which you purchased your music permits this in their own license terms.

Why are your nature sounds 74 minutes long?[TOP]
74 minutes is the maximum duration that you can reliably burn to a CD. So if you wanted to create a nice long nature sound CD to play in your commercial venue, these 74 minute recordings are just perfect. Each recording fades out very slowly over the last two minutes or so.

When I receive my music, what format will it be in?[TOP]
For your convenience, you will receive your music in two formats:
1. High quality, uncompressed WAV files, 16-bit / 44 kHz
2. 320 kbps MP3.
Both of these formats are high quality. Both are compatible with Macintosh and PC.

Note: These audio files are compressed into zip files to ensure secure, complete download delivery. Simply double-click the zip file to open it and reveal the WAV & MP3 files inside.

 What's better; WAV files or MP3 files?[TOP]
WAV files are the highest quality audio files and are sonically identical to a CD. They are higher quality than MP3 files. However, our MP3 files are VERY high quality as well, and as a result many people can't tell the difference. We supply both files types simply because these are the two most common types of audio and some people are more familiar with one file type than the other.

What is the loop length of your music?
[TOP]
Unlike most royalty free meditation music, we do not simply create a 3 minute track and loop it over and over again. Our music usually contains quite long, expressive passages. Many of our tracks will play for a full 10 - 15 minutes before you hear any looping at all, and even once a section of music has been looped, we will add subtle
variations so that the music continues to evolve and remain interesting.

Can I burn a CD of the music I download?
[TOP]
Yes you can. If you need to burn a CD so that you can play the music to a live audience or client, or if you need to transport the music, then you may burn a CD. However you cannot copy, distribute or sell CD 's of the music in its original form.

I don't have a Paypal Account. Can I pay with a credit card or debit card instead?[TOP]
You sure can. Add the items you want to your cart, and then click on the button that says "Check out with Paypal".
On the next screen, you will see an option to "Pay with a debit or credit card". Simply click on this link and you can use your card to pay.

I really love your music, but I don't have a credit card or a Paypal account. Can I pay some other way?[TOP]
Certainly. You can always pay via direct bank transfer.

Please contact us and let us know exactly what music you want and we'll give you our bank account details.
Once we receive your payment we will send you an email within 24 hours that contains links to download all your music.

 Can I purchase CD’s of your music?[TOP]
Our music is delivered via download only - a format that we greatly prefer to CDs. Digital downloads cost you less, and we are able to deliver them to you instantly, so there's no waiting for CD’s in the mail. Digital downloads are also much better for the environment. Cars, trucks and planes are required to deliver CD’s, whereas digital downloads require just a tiny amount of electricity from your computer. It’s a small detail, but it makes us feel better about what we do!

Don’t forget, you can always burn your own CD’s once you have downloaded your music.

What currency are your prices in?[TOP]
Our prices are in Australian Dollars, but we know that 90% of our customers are in the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe, so we've included a handy currency converter on our checkout page.

 Do you offer any discounts?
From time to time we offer promotional discounts to our subscribers. Please click here for more information.

How does the download process work?[TOP]
As soon as your payment is received, you will be directed to a page that contains links to download your music. You will also receive an email that contains links to your downloads (if you don't receive this email, please check your junk mail folder. Email programs like Outlook will sometimes view this email as spam and accidentally delete it). This entire process only takes a minute or so. All you need to do is click on the download links and then save the files to your computer. Please note that your download links will expire after one month - this is just to keep our audio files nice and secure.

For your convenience, you will receive your music in two formats:
1. High quality, uncompressed WAV files, 16-bit / 44 kHz
2. 320 kbps MP3.
Both of these formats are high quality. Both are compatible with Macintosh and PC.

Please Note: These audio files are compressed into zip files to ensure secure, complete download delivery. Simply double-click the zip file to open it and reveal the WAV & MP3 files inside.

Should you ever have a problem with a download (a rare event) please feel free to contact us for support. We will attend to you promptly and will make sure that you receive everything you ordered.

How big are the downloads and how long do they take?
[TOP]
Our audio files are quite large. This is because we supply the highest quality audio possible, not just MP3 files (recording engineers and audiophiles love us for this).

The time it takes to download a piece of music will vary according to the speed of your internet connection.
The chart below shows the file sizes and approximate download times.

Music duration
Approx file size
100 kbps download speed
500 kbps download speed 1500 kbps download speed
15 minute audio 175 MB 30 min 6 min 2 min
30 minute audio 350 MB 60 min 12 min 4 min
60 minute audio 700 MB 120 min 24 min 8 min

Can I download samples of your music? [TOP]
You sure can. You will notice that all our music is listed with a preview track that you can listen to. If you would like to download a preview track,
simply right-click on the preview track (control-click on a Mac) and select "save target as" or "save link as".

Please note that these samples are protected by international copyright law. They are provided to you for the purpose of evaluation only. They cannot be used for any other purpose, or redistributed in any way.

How can I download the music to my iPad / iPhone?
Apple mobile devices like iPads and iPhones are not capable of downloading music files from any source other than iTunes. This means that you cannot download music from our site to your Apple mobile device. The solution is quite simple though. Follow these steps to transfer your music to your mobile device:

1. Download your music to a proper desktop computer/laptop.

2. Unzip the music file to reveal the MP3 and WAV audio inside.

3. Drag one of these audio files into your iTunes library.

4. Sync your iTunes library with your mobile device.

The music files I downloaded aren't working.
PLEASE wait until your music files finish downloading before you try to open or move them. If you try to open or move a file that is still downloading then your computer won't be able to play it. This is the most common mistake people make when downloading, but fortunately it's easy to fix. If you ever find that your music isn't working for any reason, simply download it again and make sure that it completely finishes downloading.

I can't seem to play the preview tracks. What's wrong?

There are two reasons why this might happen:

1. Your computer may be missing Java (a free software plugin). Almost all computers have Java installed, but some older computers or those that are not up to date may be missing it.
Install Java here.

2. Your internet speed may not be fast enough to stream the music properly. Our preview tracks are quite high in quality and require a reasonably fast internet connection. You can improve your experience by making sure that you are not downloading any other files or web pages while you listen to the music.

Here's a great solution if you are having trouble getting the music to play:
Right click on a preview track
(control click on a Mac) and select "Save Target As", "Save Link As" or "Download Linked File" (this will vary depending on what internet browser you are using). You can then download preview tracks to your computer and play them at your leisure using your favourite music player, like iTunes or Windows Media Player.

I'm trying to add music to my shopping cart, but it's not working.
It is likely that your internet security settings are interfering with the function of the shopping cart.
You must have cookies enabled in your internet browser for the shopping cart to work.
If you require additional assistance, please feel free to contact us.

I'm trying to download my purchase, but it's not working. What's wrong?
Our music files are stored on some of the world's most reliable and fastest servers with a guaranteed uptime of over 99.9%. So if you ever find that your music is downloading very slowly, or not at all, this is probably due to a temporary disruption to the internet service in your local area or a temporary problem with your personal computer. Sometimes these problems go away by themselves and your download will speed up over time. Sometimes these problems are resolved simply by restarting your computer or switching to an alternative web browser.

If you have problems downloading, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'll refresh your purchase and send you new download links. We have never failed to deliver music to our customers, not ever.

Can you compose original music for me? [TOP]
Yes indeed. Please click here if you would like to have some original music composed and produced just for you.
Christopher Lloyd Clarke will work with you directly so as to fully understand your needs and to bring your musical vision to life.

Do I have to credit you?
[TOP]
Yes you do. Please refer to our license terms and conditions for information about how to publish a credit correctly.
A credit doesn't just serve us, it can actually enhance your own presentation, especially when it comes to CD's and mp3 downloads. The words “With music composed by...” can make your product look more professional and can make it more appealing to potential customers.
